Lloyds TSB autolease's Specialist Commercial Vehicle Unit reports 30% growth
Lloyds TSB autolease, one of the UK’s largest fleet funding and management companies, has seen record growth in its Specialist Commercial Vehicle Unit (SCVU).
The SCVU, which launched in April 2004, offers Lloyds TSB autolease’s customers a total commercial vehicle solution. The Unit was created to provide organisations with bespoke support in the specification, funding, maintenance and disposal of commercial vehicles. Catering for vehicles of up to 6.5 tonnes, the SCVU offers everything from basic vans to highly specialised and innovative applications. A great example is the ground-breaking OSCAR4 Land Rover that was recently developed for E.ON, which, through a 25% increase in payload and selection of safety innovations, has massively improved the flexibility and safety of their operation.
Grahame Neagus, SCVU Manager at Lloyds TSB autolease, said: “The original launch of the SCVU was all about adding real value to our customers operations and assisting them in improving their business efficiencies. During 2005, we saw a 30% increase in sales with around 6,000 new vehicles delivered. We achieved this remarkable increase through higher levels of interaction with our customers, ensuring we are in tune with their business needs at every stage of our process and can offer them bespoke solutions that meet their unique needs. We aim to contribute to the growth of their businesses and take advantage of any new engineering opportunities that become available. By introducing more design consultations and working very closely with our suppliers and vehicle end users, we have been able to engineer solutions to issues and bring better products to market.”
The SCVU team has expanded from 5 people in 2004 to 10 in 2006 with a new Quote, Order & Delivery team working alongside 3 highly experienced fleet engineers to provide Lloyds TSB autolease’s customers with the best practical advice.
The SCVU has benefited from the introduction of many new commercial vehicle models this year and has demonstrated a high level of commitment and expertise in assessing all of these options to find the ideal vehicle for each individual operation. However, the front end package is only a small part of the SCVU operation; the in-house commercial technical service team enables the SCVU to also offer the highest levels of legal and technical support throughout the life of each vehicle, and offer practical advice on commercial vehicle maintenance.
Grahame continues: “Our extremely successful presence at the CV Show in April, where we displayed the new OSCAR4 Land Rover, allowed us to demonstrate to the market exactly what we can achieve – customers and journalists seemed to be surprised and impressed in equal measure. The strategy going forward is to maintain and develop our position as the number one LCV provider through the expertise and added-value services we offer, regardless of vehicle size and application. As a team, the future is extremely bright and exciting as we become more involved in both new business tenders and existing client asset management, helping us to win even more business across all sectors. We are also looking to use our industry-leading SCVU Academy to get our team through a record of 180 training days, which will provide us with an even more highly trained LCV team.”
Collectively, members of the SCVU team have more than 110 years of experience in the commercial vehicle sector. They work alongside the sales team and relationship managers to support existing clients and attract new contracts.
