Lloyds TSB autolease proves its “metal” as Corus signs £24m contract extension

Claudia Rose, Corporate Sales Director at Lloyds TSB autolease, says: “Winning Corus' business in 2003 was fantastic but we’re even more pleased that the relationship has grown and strengthened, and delivered real benefits to our client. What better endorsement can we have than to have a major client continue to put their trust in our abilities and commitment? We have been actively promoting innovative solutions in line with Corus' financial, HR and overall business objectives. It is a true partnership that we value greatly.”

Lloyds TSB autolease has been able to continually identify opportunities for Corus to make cost savings by maximising its buying power to negotiate best possible deals from manufacturers, and delivering cost efficiencies. As part of the Lloyds TSB Group, Lloyds TSB autolease is able to offer competitive finance rates, stability and experience.

Other opportunities have been based around the use of IT in fleet administration, risk management and environmental issues.

Corus recently signed up to Lloyds TSB autolease's industry-leading "Fleet Sense" because they were very impressed with the holistic approach, allowing them to address work-related road safety (WRRS) with one straightforward, integrated solution.

Corus is also in the process of moving to Quick Quote, as they recognise the excellent administrative benefits, and have been very impressed with Lloyds TSB autolease's new Web Reporting service.

David Dales, Manager, Group Compensation & Benefits at Corus, said: "Originally, Corus chose Lloyds TSB autolease because of its innovative approach and the promise that they would help us to drive our costs down. We are a demanding client but they have constantly met our key performance indicators."

The two companies work very closely together. For example, in what is essentially an outsourced arrangement, two members of the Lloyds TSB autolease customer service team are actually based at Corus' Teesside plant to interface with all drivers. In addition to providing vehicle funding, the contract covers full maintenance and accident management.

Corus is Europe's second largest steel producer with 2006 revenues of £9.7 billion. It has more than 41,000 employees and major operations in the Netherlands and in the UK, across a number of sites. Corus is a subsidiary of TATA Steel, the world's fifth largest and second most global steel producer.

Company vehicles are central to operations of Corus in the UK. Corus operates a mixed fleet of around 1,800 cars, split evenly between a user-chooser fleet for senior managers and a solus badge deal with Vauxhall for essential users. All vehicles are contract hire with maintenance. Lloyds TSB autolease has helped, and continues to help Corus review its fleet operating policy and procedures in order to maximise cost efficient benefits for employees. More recently Lloyds TSB autolease has started working with Corus to explore 'green fleet' opportunities.

Steel production is one of the most competitive industries in the global marketplace. Corus is under constant and intense pressure to deliver cost savings throughout its organisation, with fleet management being no exception.
