Duty of Care

Driving is one of the most dangerous activities that most employees undertake as part of their working day. According to The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (ROSPA), around 20 people are killed and 220 are seriously injured every week in work-related road collisions. We know that work-related road safety is still a major issue facing fleets today, with new legislation and increased penalties leading to even more of a need for improved management of driver safety on the road.

With this in mind, we’ve developed two dedicated products to help you meet your Duty of Care obligations. These include an online risk management system to help you manage your duty of care obligations. We’ve done this in partnership with Interactive Driving Systems, who are global providers of fleet risk management solutions and are experts in this area. Our products deliver research-driven products and services that have been proven and independently validated by the Napier University in Edinburgh.

Virtual Risk Manager

For fleets with fewer than 50 vehicles, we offer Virtual Risk Manager, which includes:

• Driver Handbook - an online, generic safety manual of best practice advice to help employees focus on driving safely and within current legislation.
• RiskFoundation - an online questionnaire for drivers to complete based on the handbook which demonstrates that information has been shared and understood.
• RoadRISK Profile - an online fact-based risk assessment which assesses each individual driver, their vehicle and their driving habits
• RoadRISK Defensive Driving – an online competency based risk assessment which addresses driver attitudes and behaviour.
• Electronic licence check - a DVLA check that will help you see any driver endorsements and highlight any high risk drivers. Results are colour-coded according to the endorsement history and classified as low, medium or high risk.
• Management Information System (MIS) - comprehensive management information reporting which allows you to easily monitor progress & performance via secure password-protected web pages.

Fleet Sense - for larger fleets

For fleets with more than 50 vehicles, we offer Fleet Sense, a comprehensive, cost-effective product that allows you to identify a driver's overall risk profile. Drivers complete a series of ten web-based modules, creating a risk rating based on factors such as their knowledge, journeys completed, their vehicle and their style of driving. By taking advantage of this, you can measure, monitor and report back on the qualification, road safety performance and training activities of all your drivers.
