BMW Contract Hire & Car Leasing

About BMW

There's a reason BMW is known as the Ultimate Driving Machine, and it’s not just about clever marketing.

From the German manufacturer’s smallest 1-Series hatchback to the massive X5 luxury SUV, all BMW cars are renowned for one thing; being the best-driving cars in their segment.

Bayerische Motoren Werke has a long history of engine, aircraft and motorcycle production, making a concerted move into car production in the 1930s and moving into executive and luxury models in the 1960s.

Since that time, the BMW name and badge have been synonymous with performance and premium quality.

BMW’s move into executive territory means the German manufacturer has proved popular with business users and fleet managers looking for a premium badge; and has led to the BMW 3 Series appearing in the top ten car sales in the UK on a regular basis.

The company has also expanded into volume and niche areas alike, with its purchase of the Rover group in the 1990s giving it access to the Mini and Land Rover brands and technology.

Despite selling Land Rover on to Ford and divesting itself of Rover, BMW retains two iconic pieces of British motoring heritage in the resurrected Mini and Rolls-Royce.

BMW electric car concepts are reportedly on the drawing board, meaning BMW will aim to offer models in most sectors of the car market.

About BMW car leasing

BMW has a suite of models ideal for private users and for business users, with a wide selection of cars and powertrains that offer impressively low fuel consumption and emissions.

BMW has developed the renowned EfficientDynamics programme to drive down fuel economy and emissions in its car range, further enhancing the manufacturer’s leasing desirability.

Smaller models - ever popular with business users - include hatchback, coupe and convertible versions of the 1 Series, currently BMW’s entry-level model and styled as a premium C-segment car.

The 3 Series remains the most popular BMW model, available in saloon, coupe, convertible and estate variants. M3 models add huge power and uprated diving dynamics.

Such is the popularity of the BMW 3 Series it often outsells volume saloons such as the Ford Mondeo and the compact executive is popular with business and leasing customers, especially EfficientDynamics models that offer exceptional running costs and leasing rates.

A step up from the 3 Series is the 5 Series, a large executive saloon also available as an estate in the form of the 5 Series Touring.

Diesel 5 Series models are popular with the contract hire market because of the low Benefit-in-Kind rates and associated running costs, while a BMW M5 is an option for anyone looking for more power.

The luxury end of the market is catered for by the BMW 6 Series grand tourer, available with a hard-top or drop-top. Again, performance M models are available but most business and leasing customers will be attracted to diesel models.

BMW also has a luxury saloon in the form of the 7 Series that combines high levels of performance, technology and overall quality.

Estate models are catered for by the 3 Series Touring and 5 Series Touring, while the 5 Series GT adds the practicality of the hatch to the size and performance of the executive. There’s also an M5 Touring for those who prefer load lugging with the ability to travel at 155mph.

Rounding off BMW models is the Z4, now a folding hard-top that replaces previous roadster and coupe models. As a two-seater with aggressive styling and a superb cockpit, the BMW Z4 is a guaranteed head-turner.
